Undergraduate Admission Requirements (Bachelor’s Degree)
âś… Academic Requirements
- Completion of secondary/high school education equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.
- Must have completed the University of California “A–G” subject requirements, which include:
- History/Social Science – 2 years
- English – 4 years
- Mathematics – 3 years (4 years recommended)
- Laboratory Science – 2 years (3 years recommended)
- Language other than English – 2 years (3 years recommended)
- Visual and Performing Arts – 1 year
- College-preparatory elective – 1 year
- Minimum GPA requirement:
- California residents: 3.0 GPA (unweighted) in A–G subjects.
- Non-residents and international students: 3.4 GPA (unweighted) minimum.
Note: UC Berkeley is test-free, meaning SAT or ACT scores are not required for admission.
International Students
International applicants must show:
- Proof of completion of secondary education that qualifies for university entry in their country (e.g., WAEC, GCE A-Level, IB Diploma, etc.).
- Academic transcripts translated into English if not originally issued in English.
- Proof of English language proficiency (see below).
English Language Proficiency
If English is not your native language or if your previous education was not taught in English, you must provide one of the following:
